How to Be Productive at work
Prioritize
Each day make a list with the most important tasks and try to get those one completed or worked on during the day.
Set Deadlines
Each goal needs to have a deadline. If you plan the day before, it will be easier to see what needs to get done in what order. Don’t waste time, but focus on completing things before your deadline.
Avoid multitasking:
Just because you have many things to do doesn’t mean you should try to do them at the same time. We just don’t work efficiently when we multitask. Instead, do each of them one at a time. If a project can’t be complete on a day, create a time window to work on it before moving onto the next thing.
Track Time:
This will help you to see where you productive and where you are not. Write down how much time each task takes you. This includes everything from emails, breaks and watching TV. This will help you see where you spend your time and where you might need to make some changes.
Reduce Distractions
We are surrounded by things that distract us. Your phone constantly dings. Our friends drop over. Whatever it is, when you are working one of your goals that is all you need to be doing. Lock the door and turn off the phone if you have to!
More than anything, you need to love what you do and enjoy it for what it is. You want to wake up ready to achieve your goal!
A Little Balance
Working hard is important, but you need time to rest. No matter how important what you are working on is, you need to take a little break to get some fresh air and stretch out. Weekends and vacations are important too. They give you that energy you need to work hard and be refreshed!
Exercise
Exercise isn’t just good for your physical health, but it helps boost productivity. Fifteen minutes of exercise is enough to get the blood flowing and help pump fresh ideas into your head.
Create Email Groups
The simplest solution is two groups: urgent and nonurgent. These are the emails you need to respond asap and those you can sit on for a little time. This will help you stick to your deadlines better.
When to email, call or see in person
This will take some time to figure out. Each person and situation is different, but let your intuition guide you. Don’t spend twenty minutes crafting a diplomatic email to your boss, when a simple conversation could work instead. Start figuring out what works best for each situation.
Turn off notifications:
We live in a constantly connected world. The problem is that while we are working, we get a notification, and then we become distracted. Turn off your notifications and only check things when you are ready.
This will help you stay focused. You can also select certain notifications to be on during when you need always to be kept up-to-date. Just try always to keep focused!
