The primary responsibilities of this role, Microbial Discovery Intern, are to: Provide technical competence in microbiological and genetic techniques to support crop protection research, techniques will include cultivation of microbes, evaluation against plant pathogenic organisms in vitro and in controlled environment assays, and may involve genomic analyses, fermentation, and analytical chemistry; Communicate frequently with project teams and lead on functional teams to assure understanding of progress and gaps and to align on primary and contingency plans; Generate experimental results to support proprietary developments and intellectual property, and freedom to operate; Be responsible for experiment set-up, data acquisition, stewardship, analysis, and reporting to manager.
Current enrollment in a B.S. program at a university in the U.S., majoring in Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Genetics OR Biochemistry; Must have completed at least sophomore year of college prior to the start date of the position (May 2020). Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above on 4.0 scale Experience in microbial propagation, media preparation, genetics OR molecular biology.
