KPMG Internship Program Overview

With headquarters in the Netherlands, KPMG has a global reach; it is one of the Big Four professional services firms. The multinational firm employs 207,050 people, who fall into one of three service lines: audit, tax, and advisory.

It can trace its roots back to the 19th century, to the time in history when most other accounting companies were in their early stages. Today, KPMG has operations in 152 countries. In 1987 Peat Marwick International and KMG merged to become KPMG.

KPMG recruiting kicks into high gear in March, as they seek to find students with audit and banking backgrounds. Selected interns will sign a six-month contract and begin their tenure in October. They have a good eye for hiring top talent; they offer the vast majority of interns a fulltime job at the conclusion of their term.

The firm also needs to fill two-month summer internships with banking and financial students. Occasionally, the firm may offer a one-or-two month contract, dependent entirely upon business needs. For students who want to invest their summer at the firm, they can explore the national summer internship program.

This allows students to split their time: one half in audit, and the other half in tax, enterprise, or business functions.

All students are invited to attend seminars and training courses designed to accelerate their development and increase their knowledge. Furthermore, since KMPG is one of the Big Four, they have a global presence. A few select candidates will receive a four-week rotation in another country.
